All done!

The surgery went great and Riley's a real trooper! She got her last bottle last night around 7pm just before she went to bed. We woke up this morning around 6:45 am and headed to the surgery center at 7. We got there just after 7:30 and played with toys and some of the other kids until they called Riley at about 8:30. So far, she wasn't fussy at all. She went through the pre-surgery process like an angel and they took her back for surgery at about 8:45. She was out within 10 minutes and about 5 minutes later was wide awake and drinking a bottle of pedialyte. They gave me a prescription for ear drops that she'll have to have for the next 3 days and let us go. When we got out to the car, Riley started crying, so I gave her her first bottle of formula, but she still wasn't very happy with me. She cried nearly all the way home. She fell asleep for the last few minutes and then took about a 20 minute nap with me on the couch. When she woke up, she was still pretty fussy, but after playing with her for a few minutes, she was sufficiently distracted and went back to her happy playful self!

We have to go back in 3 weeks for a post-op checkup and then again every 3 months until the tubes fall out. Thanks for all of your prayers and good thoughts. We did great! Now, we wait and see if the tubes help her out at all. :-)

  1. So glad everything went well - what a trooper! (That goes for both of you LOL!) Hopefully she'll have a great recovery and you'll have an easier time of things without her having ear infections so often!
